Doug Gilmour Named Assistant Coach Of Toronto Marlies

In a bit of a surprise, but definitely deserved move, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced last week that the club has installed former team captain Doug Gilmour as an assistant coach for the Toronto Marlies.

Gilmour joins Greg Gilbert as former players turned coach for the young Maple Leafs AHL squad.

There were some who believed Gilmour was on his way out of the Leafs organization.  It had long been rumoured that "Killer" was looking to coach somewhere in hockey this fall.

McCabe Out, Kubina In?

It looks as though the resolution Cliff Fletcher was talking about when he discussed Bryan McCabe isn't as far off as well all thought.

This past weekend the Maple Leafs maligned blue-liner said through his agent that he was considering waiving his no trade clause, to facilitate a move out of Toronto.

It appears that is what the Leafs are working towards.  Pavel Kubina, whose no trade clause goes into effect again Thursday night at Midnight, doesn't appear to be moving, and will likely serve the last two years in his contract with the Maple Leafs.

Colin Murphy Signs With Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres announced last week they have signed Colin Murphy, who played last season with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.
