Featured Columnist Charlie O'Connor here, live blogging the Florida-Tennessee game. We'll see Gators quarterback John Brantley yet again attempt to escape the shadow of Tim Tebow. The Volunteers work to finally pull out a victory in what has become an increasing lopsided rivalry.
Join me for the next few hours while we discuss everything from statistics to impromptu renditions of Rocky Top to Derek Dooley's comb-over.
Well, that's all for me. Thanks for reading, and have a good Saturday night everyone. The Florida Gators get the win, 31-17, over the Tennessee Volunteers.
And not enough can be said about Urban Meyer. Just the best coach in college football.
Chris Walker had a fantastic game for Tennessee. Probably their player of the game.
Brantley didn't make any mistakes, but won't quiet the people who still long for Tebow.
Florida gets the win, a 31-17 triumph over the rival Volunteers.
Tennessee never gave up, but they just couldn't keep up over the span of 60 minutes.
And Tennessee is stopped on fourth down. That will end it.
Simms tackled out of bounds and is hit, but there's no flag. Bad call.
Vols out of timeouts, as they try for one last drive.
And Brantley is sacked by Gerald Williams on 3rd down. The Vols will get another shot, but only have about three and a half minutes to come back.
Monster hit by on Demps by LaMarcus Thompson! This Vols team just will not give up.
Thompson pulls in another high pass from Brantley for the first down. His team will get the win, but he wasn't exactly impressive today.
Carl Johnson for Florida down on the ground.
Tennessee gave it their all in this game, but in the end, Florida was just more talented and better-coached.
That was probably Tennessee's last gasp.
And that will basically do it. Poole has a nice run-after-the-catch, but is then rocked by Florida safety Will Hill and coughs up the football.
John Brantley doesn't look particularly happy on the bench. But you can't argue with Meyer's decision to use Burton in the red zone.
Amazing job by Florida to respond to Tennessee big fourth down touchdown. The Vols had their chances to stop the Gators, but they just couldn't do it. Carl Moore made the most important play of the drive with a leaping grab on 3rd down.
The freshman Trey Burton comes in to replace Brantley for a play, and he scores on the QB keeper! Very Tebow-esque there.
Demps a little slow to get up. He looks pretty tired.
And there goes Demps! Shows off his explosive speed as he gets to the edge and picks up about 15 yards. He would have scored had he not barely stepped out of bounds.
Florida at the Vols 24 yard line.
Big third-down conversion, as Moore brings down a high pass from Brantley. Moore bailed out his quarterback big time on that play.
And Chris Walker with the big stop. He has arguably been Tennessee's best player today.
He then follows it up with an ugly handoff on an option play that gained nothing. The consistency is just not there yet.
