Week One was not kind to me, as I managed to go only one game above .500 with a 9-7 record.
However, of the seven games that I picked incorrectly, five of them were decided by seven points or less. That gives me a reason for optimism, and I hope that the second week is kinder.
As always, the first five games are the games I have identified as the best matchups of the week, followed by the rest of the games.
1) Baltimore Ravens (1-0) at Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) – The Ravens showed their defensive muscle in their season opener beating the New York Jets 10-9, while the Bengals found themselves down 31-3 against New England before closing the gap and making the loss a more respectable 38-24. This week the two top teams in the AFC North square off with the Bengals looking to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start.
I like the Ravens in this game. I think they have revenge on their minds after being swept by Cincinnati in 2009, and the Ravens defense was all over the place in New York. I did not like how the Bengals' pass defense looked in New England, and Ravens QB Joe Flacco is going to have opportunities to hook up with his receivers. This game should be a close one and go down to the wire; I like the Ravens to win a low-scoring, close game. Winner: Baltimore...
