2. Missouri Tigers, 13-0
3. Utah Utes, 12-0
4. Arizona State Sun Devils, 11-1
5. West Virginia Mountaineers, 11-1
6. Texas Tech Red Raiders, 12-1
7. Kansas Jayhawks, 10-2
8. Georgia Bulldogs, 10-2
9. Ohio State Buckeyes, 10-2
10. Boise State Broncos, 11-1
Now, it's time to move on to Week 3 of the 2008 college football bowl season.
Key Games in Week 3 of the Bowl Season (Friday, January 2, 2009 through Thursday, January 8, 2009):
Allstate Sugar Bowl (Friday, January 2, 2009):
Clemson (11-2) vs. Georgia (10-2) (in New Orleans)
Well, this is what it SHOULD have been in the Sugar Bowl, LAST SEASON! However, it is better late than never... as the No. 12 Clemson Tigers and the No. 8 Georgia Bulldogs face off in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, at the Superdome!
After getting off to a 10-0 start, the Clemson Tigers looked like they were going to make a run at the BCS National Championship Game.
However, as Clemson has done in the past two seasons... they stumbled down the stretch, losing two of their final three games, heading into the Sugar Bowl!
On the other hand, the Georgia Bulldogs head into the Sugar Bowl with a 10-2 record, and winning eight of their final nine games... for the second straight season!
Unfortunately, it looks to me like this is setting up for a repeat of last season's Sugar Bowl. In the end, I expect the Georgia Bulldogs to CRUSH the Clemson Tigers, by about FOUR or FIVE TOUCHDOWNS... as Clemson goes down without a fight!
Winner: Georgia
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (Monday, January 5, 2009):
Boise State (11-1) vs. Utah (12-0) (in Glendale, Arizona)
This is the first time that a BCS Bowl Game features TWO BCS Busters! In fact, BOTH of these BCS Busters are ranked in the Top 10... as the No. 10 Boise State Broncos take on the No. 3 Utah Utes, in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl!
Also, BOTH of these BCS Busters have a previous victory in the Fiesta Bowl. Four seasons ago, the Utah Utes CRUSHED the Pittsburgh Panthers, 35-7... while the Boise State Broncos defeated the Oklahoma Sooners 43-42, in OVERTIME, just two seasons ago!
Well, the Utah Utes have been VERY DOMINANT this season... as senior quarterback Brian Johnson led the Utes to an UNDEFEATED record, on his way to winning the Heisman Trophy.
In the end, I expect Utah's DOMINANCE this season to continue, in the Fiesta Bowl... as the Utah Utes to CRUSH the Boise State Broncos, in similar fashion to four years ago!
The Utah Utes complete their SECOND UNDEFEATED SEASON, in five seasons. In fact, the Utes could possibly WIN a SHARE of their FIRST-EVER NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!
Winner: Utah
BCS National Championship Game (Thursday, January 8, 2009):
Missouri (13-0) vs. Florida (13-0) (in Miami)
Well, this is it... The wait is NOW OVER! Fifty-one days after the start of this series, we have FINALLY reached the END of the golden road.
The 54th and FINAL key game of Jimson's 2008 College Football series is a showdown between two UNDEFEATED teams... who are ranked No. 1 and No. 2.
Without further adieu, the No. 2 Missouri Tigers and the No. 1 Florida Gators face off in the BCS Championship Game, in Miami... with the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP on the line!
Well, I think that this will be a very exciting BCS National Championship Game. I mean, there are just WAY TOO MANY great players on the field, in this game... NOT for it to be exciting!
In fact, I think that this game has the POTENTIAL to be the GREATEST GAME PLAYED... since the January 2006 Rose Bowl Game, in which Vince Young and the Texas Longhorns defeated the USC Trojans 41-38.
Moreover, I really think that this BCS National Championship Game will be played out VERY SIMILAR to the 2006 Rose Bowl Game!
The Florida Gators are playing an UNDEFEATED Big 12 team, in their HOME STATE... with the opportunity to become the FIRST team, since the 2004 USC Trojans, to go WIRE-TO-WIRE #1, in a poll!
Does this sound quite familiar?
Well, this is the SAME EXACT situation that the 2005 USC Trojans faced. In fact, BOTH the 2005 USC Trojans and the 2008 Florida Gators have a quarterback, that WON the Heisman Trophy... during the previous season!
In the end, I think that this all adds up to a VERY CLOSE and thrilling victory, in addition to a BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP... for the Missouri Tigers!
Winner: Missouri
