UFC 88 will take place on Sept. 6 and will emanate from the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The main event features a light heavyweight bout between former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Lidell and Rashad Evans.

Rashad vs. "the Iceman" is a tough one to call. I have a rule never to bet against Chuck Lidell. The man is so unpredictable and unorthodox, it’s virtually impossible to figure out what style he will use.

Lidell is a pressure fighter but he can also knock you out while moving away. Yes, he can move in a lateral position and still be dangerous. Chuck throws punches from almost impossible angles and has the best take down defense in the UFC.

Lidell has an extensive background in kickboxing and collegiate wrestling. He is generally regarded as a stand-up fighter, and he is black belt in Kempo Karate.

Rashad Evans is no slouch either and possesses heavy hands and good high kicks—just ask Sean Salmon. Salmon was carried out on a stretcher after being KO’d by one of Rashad’s kicks to the head.

Evans won the heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighter Reality Show Two. He holds wins over "tomato cans" such as Brad Imes and Sean Salmon, but also noteworthy wins against Michael "Count Flukey" Bisping and Stephan Bonnar.

Rashad also went to a draw against former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz. My opinion here is that Rashad Evans isn’t ready to deal with someone that has the experience and unorthodox style that Chuck Lidell possesses.

My prediction is that this fight will go a couple rounds, but Rashad will be getting beat up and picked apart by Lidell’s superb jab.

My speculation is that this fight will look a lot like Wanderlei Silva vs. Chuck Lidell. Chuck still has dynamite in both hands. His explosive fists are going to be too much for Rashad to handle.

the question is does Chuck still have the ferocity. i think rashad has a chance to move up with this fight. im not counting chuck out completely but Rashad is younger, has good endurance and just could prove himself title worthy with this fight. with two respectable wins against a desperate Tito and a dominate Bisping i think Liddell could be Rashads next big win. ill pick Rashad by unanimous decision.

    It's Liddell* stoker. Not Lidell.

Rashad Evans is a completely different fighter than Wanderlei Silva and I'm a little befuddled as to how you think this fight will be similar, other than the fact that you think Liddell will win.
