Santana Schedules Date For Surgery

Johan Santana was removed from his September 2nd start after pitching 5 innings of 1 run ball against the Atlanta Braves. At the time it was reported that the shortened outing was due to a strained pectoral muscle.  However, after an MRI taken at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan revealed that he has suffered a tear of the anterior capsule in his throwing shoulder, Santana planned to seek a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews before proceeding with the shoulder surgery.
