The US won their first world championship title in 16 years after beating up hosts Turkey 81-64 in the final thanks to a great performance by new superstar forward Kevin Durant. The 21-year-old Durant won the tournament's MVP award with a series of majestic performances. Durant was scoring from a wide range of positions, Durant racked up 28 points in the final, including 20 in the half after the hosts had taken an early 17-14 lead.Turkey just ran out of gas against a much more talented and athletic U.S. team. Durant is getting better with age. In three NBA seasons Durant points average rose to 30.1. Durant beat out LeBron James and Melo for the scoring title last season.
