What can Chris "Beanie" Wells do in 2008?

After rushing for more than 1,600 yards in 2007, Chris “Beanie” Wells has his eyes set on even bigger goals. The record was set in 1995 by Eddie George, who rushed for 1,927 yards in one season. With the schedule Ohio State has this year, Wells has a great opportunity to hit 2,000 yards. The 2008 schedule is much harder than the 2007 schedule, but as we all know Coach Tressels’ conservative nature, he does not play many star players after half-time during easily winnable games. This year Ohio Statewill travel to USC during the third week of the season. This is a great opportunity for Wells to add a quick 150 yards to his rushing total. An ankle injury also played a role in less playing time last season. Being in his junior year, Wells should also have more confidence and a better perception of the field. You may wonder if it is possible to do any better than he did last season. A summer well spent in the weight room can make anything possible on the football field. If the bulldozer was not strong enough already, would you like to try to tackle him out of the backfield? If Beanie can stay healthy this year, look for nothing to hold him back from a 2,000 yard season. Given the team he has surrounding him, and a senior quarterback (Todd Boeckman) with plenty of talent, along with freshmen sensation Terrelle Pryor, Beanie should be able to do great things on the field for The Ohio State University Buckeyes in 2008.
