Demian Maia will be back in a "Spider's Web" when he comes to The Pearl at The Palms on December 4th.
Actually, it'll be more like "Da Spyda's Web", but the idea doesn't change what one of the sport's best BJJ practitioners at 185 pounds will likely face at The Ultimate Fighter's 12th season finale.
He'll be standing across the cage from a well-rounded and dangerous fighter in TUF 3 middleweight winner Kendall Grove in what may be a tough test for both men.
Announced via Da Spyda's Twitter account was news that Grove (12-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC) and Maia (13-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) would face off in a middleweight bout that surely will not disappoint any of the masses at The Pearl or those watching at home.
Unquestionably, Grove could come in as the better striker, though his own BJJ will be tested by the former UFC middleweight title contender, who has finished the majority of his opponents by way of submission.
Victory will not be very easy—neither for Maia, who is one of the most technical submission specialists in the game, or for Grove, the long-limbed Hawaiian who has some equally sick submissions.
The intrigue should make for one of the night's most exciting bouts in every sense of the word.
