United Need New Striker? Huntelaar, Benzema, Berbatov?!? No.

Karl CollierCorrespondent IAugust 8, 2008

All through the silly season United have been linked with striker after striker, names being thrown in left, right, and centre because kids have seen the clips on YouTube. So the question lies, do United really need a new striker?

The answer my friend, is no.

Karim Benzema - Lyon.
Apparently he has done really well for Lyon in the past few seasons, but I won't judge as I don't watch French football. He's still young and has bags of potential, but what has he REALLY done to warrant the £30-£40 million price tag Lyon have slapped on his head? I remember his goal against us in the Champions League, but thats pretty much it. I know he didnt play much in the Euro's but when he did, he didn't look very special.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar - Ajax
The want away striker has had another brilliant season in Holland, but is he up to United's standards? Personally, some might not agree, I think he's slow. He reminds me way too much of Ruud Van Nistelrooy. I dont want United to slow down how they play, we arguably have the three best attacking players in the Premiership, maybe Europe, with Rooney, Tevez, and Ronaldo. Add to that we have Giggs, Nani, Anderson, Scholes along with Campbell, Rafael, Fabio, and Martin coming through the ranks. Our attack is too fast to have a target man.

Dimitar Berbatov - Tottenham Hotspur
Fergie has made it clear he fancies the Bulgarian hit-man, but again, I ain't too sure. His game involves too much crying and moaning. Everytime he doesn't get the ball played to him the dummy comes out. Can you see him reacting calmly to being put on the bench? I can't. Rooney and Tevez have worked so hard together to prove the doubters wrong, they are brilliant together and to bring in a "prolific" striker would be wrong.

We work better as a team, we had life after Ruud, we can have life without a target man as we proved this past season.
