If I am a Jets fan, I have mixed feelings today.
On one hand he gives you more hope than Kelly Clemens or Chad Pennington. But on the other, he’s an overrated, washed-up gunslinger who only won a Superbowl because Desmond Howard had a career day and Otis Smith got beat twice...badly. I think giving away a top pick is a questionable move, but these are the moves that help keep the Pats, Dolphins and Bills in control of that division
The theory that they are trying to create a buzz as they go into their new facility is silly—they have 10-year waitlist for season tickets, so no buzz is needed. A franchise that makes short-sighted moves like this will go nowhere. Clemens is young and could be good if developed. This move is a slap to him and a compete abandonment of him as their QB.
Give the Packers credit—they drew the line and decided the Favre era was over. They also made a great move by acquiring him and then trading him away from their division and conference. Now that is why they are usually in the playoff picture and why the Jets are not.
Jests fans should also be wary of a guy who, in his first press conference as a Jet, says “I’ll always be a Packer.” Not really what you want to hear you new guy say.
