This week features players who are not household names, yet could potentially help your team immediately or in the next few weeks.

 

Quarterbacks:

Alex Smith, San Francisco 49ers

After losing the starting job in 2009, Smith replaced a struggling QB Shaun Hill in Week Seven and never looked back. In only 11 starts, he threw for 2,350 passing yards with 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Having created great chemistry with TE Vernon Davis and WR Michael Crabtree, Smith is on the verge of a breakout year.

In Week One, Smith will face the Seattle Seahawks, who had the 30th rank passing defense in the league last year. Last year, in Week 13, Smith threw for 310 yards, with two touchdown passes and had a passer rating of 95.6 against the Seahawks...
