This is about what I was expecting to see from Stanzi to open the season, sans the injury scare. He had great command of the offense out there and made most of the throws look routine. He did an excellent of reading and picking his spots. He showed much better judgment when plays didn't develop down the field as he checked down to Robinson a few times and just ate the ball on others.

The only real mistakes Stanzi made were a few inaccurate passes and the bad exchange. You could get on him for missing McNutt for an easy 6 but I'd chalk that up to early season rust more than anything. He read it correctly and got the ball out on time but just put a bit too much on it and left it too flat.

I like the way JVB stepped in there and seamlessly kept a drive going when Stanzi limped off.  He handled the offense just like Stanzi did and finished the drive for the score.

Looking at the passing chart Iowa was very conservative with the play call and picked up a lot of YAC.  I would expect Iowa to attack down-field more as the season goes on.

+1 Good job of finding his open TE up the seam. Makes the throw easy. D1 Play 5
+1 Nice patience there and he puts it on the money to Reisner out of the backfield. Nice way to come back from what looked like a scary injury earlier. D4 Play 1
+1 Great job of trusting his receiver as he threw this well before Herman was out of his break. Perfect timing and placement. D4 Play 4
-1 Rushed this throw a bit here and cost them a 4th down conversion. There was no pressure and he just sailed it a bit high here. D4 Play 8
-1 Bad exchange and it’s fumbled away. D6 Play 6
-1 Poor throw on what should have been an easily completion. D7 Play 1
+1 Nice job squeezing it in to Sandeman up the seam here. Very small window to fit it in and he fires it in there. D7 Play 3
+1 Good use of underneath receiver here as he gives his man a chance to make a play on 3rd down. D8 Play 6
+1 Nice timing and delivery here for the TD. D9 Play 8

Overall: +3

+1 Great job picking up things in stride and making it look easy on the roll-out. D3 Play 3

Overall: +1
