Eyre to Philly, Schlitter to Daytona

The Cubs acquired a prospect, Brian Schlitter, from Philly for Scott Eyre. Eyre is redirecting his RV to Philadelphia, where he'll join their bullpen. Good luck to them. Brian Schlitter is a local kid, 22 years old, from Park Ridge. He went to Maine South, which is not far from my office, btw. Apparently, he was born in Charlotte, which is also where he went to college. Bruce Miles, however, reported he was born in Oak Park, IL.  He's listed at 6-5/240. Big kid, wherever he's from.

Schlitter reports to High-A Daytona, after spending the season in Clearwater. So, neither guy changes leagues, but each changes divisions. Clearwater is in last place in FSL West, while Daytona leads FSL East.

It's good the Cubs got at least something for Eyre. And he wears his socks properly.  But I don't know if he's much of a prospect. These guys ranked him 318th for the 2007 draft, for whatever that's worth.

His numbers are OK, a lot of ground balls, but has walked a few too many for my taste. Especially against lefties. So, he looks tough on righties, but we'll see what happens when he moves up.
