Three Reasons Why Fedor Can No Longer Be Considered The Best In The World

Brian OCorrespondent IAugust 7, 2008

This is an article which I seem to talk about every single day.  Pretty much whenever I get into a real discussion about MMA, Fedor's name comes up and I'm forced to explain that I don't think anyone really knows how great he is anymore.  So I'm going to start a list to clarify why I say we can no longer consider him the best in the world.

  1. Fedor does not fight in the UFC – This is a very large deal when it comes to Fedor.  If he fought in the UFC, we might see matches which truly tested Fedor on a level that we have not seen since a long time ago.
  2. Fedor has not fought any substantial fighters in heavyweight MMA since I would say his fight against Nogueira, in which he did not even finish Nogueira.  His fights since then have been fights which have ended quickly and were not good match-ups in the first place.  For example, Hong Man Choi: Come on, really?!?!
  3. Many will disagree with this.  Fedor has not fought one of the greatest Heavyweights of all time.  Randy Couture.  The reason I say this is because I believe that if anyone could beat Fedor it would be Randy Couture and Fedor has not fought him.  If Fedor had fought him and won I would be able to consider him the best.

Ok, so that's it.  Leave comments, let me know what you think.  My one request is that if you disagree, please no one call me borderline retarded like someone did on my top ten fighters article.  And don't ask me what happened to my brain, also like someone did on that article.  Thanks a lot to those guys (you know who you are) and especially to those who keep reading.
