College Football Recruiting: Chandler Quarterback Brett Hundley Commits to UCLA
UCLA Commit Brett Hundley
He may have taken just a little bit longer than most of the other top quarterback prospects in the 2011 recruiting class, but today we finally received word where standout recruit Brett Hundley will play his college ball next fall.
The highly touted quarterback out of Chandler, Arizona has announced his commitment to Rick Neuheisel and the UCLA Bruins football program.
The announcement took place this afternoon at a press conference at the Chandler Center for the Arts. Hundley, who was deciding between UCLA and Washington, gave a solid verbal commitment to the Los Angeles school, citing that it was the place he felt most comfortable.
The commitment is good news for the Bruins, who were beaten by Kansas State this past Saturday to start the season off at 0-1. In the loss, current quarterback Kevin Prince was just nine of 26 for a measly 120 yards.
There’s no doubt that an improvement can be made at the position.
Hundley can be that guy. The 6'4" 210 lb. high school senior has a tremendous skillset and shows a lot of potential as a mobile quarterback at the next level.
Arizona’s 2009 Gatorade Player of the Year finished off his junior season with over 1,500 passing yards and a 16-2 TD to INT ratio. He also rushed for over 1,200 yards and 12 TDs.
For his efforts, Hundley was honored as a first team All Arizona selection and the Fiesta Region Offensive Player of the Year.
He is currently rated as the No. 7 ranked dual threat quarterback by Rivals and the No. 6 ranked quarterback by Scout.
Hundley was also offered by a host of Pac 10 schools including Oregon, Stanford, Washington, Arizona, as well as other top tier schools around the nation such as Nebraska, Michigan, and Texas A&M.
Hundley was considered to be the one the top few recruiting targets for Neuheisel and the Bruins, and his commitment gives a major boost to the team’s future recruiting efforts this year.
