NHL Buzz: Are Bobby Ryan and the Anaheim Ducks Close to a Contract Extension?
Eric Stephens of the OC Register is reporting that Ducks GM Bob Murray has been in serious talks with the Bobby Ryan camp to try and get him locked up for at least a few more years.
My take: This is a good move by the Ducks. Ryan needs the Ducks and they need him as they want to make the playoffs this season and without Ryan they don't have a good chance of doing that.
ESPN is reporting that UFA forward Slava Kozlov hasn't officially signed in the KHL yet and is generating some interest from teams around the NHL.
My take: I don't know what teams are interested, but if he would sign for around $1.5 million or less he could be a huge addition, especially to a team that lacks offensive talent.
My take: I think this is a great move by the Stars. It allows them to bring in a player and if he plays well he gets a contract. If not, he goes elsewhere and no harm is done.
Multiple reports from Europe are suggesting Fredrik Modin has signed a one-year deal with the Thrashers.
My take: I personally love this move, he is a good veteran forward who can provide some offense. Modin will take away a roster spot from a young guy but at the same time, the other young guys will have to compete even harder as there is one is roster spot.
My take: The Maple Leafs would likely stay away from the massive salary of Brian Rolston; however, Dainius Zubrus is a real possibility.
