The Arizona Cardinals have told Matt Leinart that he will be released today, as reported by NFL.com's Michael Lombardi.

Speculation has run rampant that Leinart will be released or traded when the Cardinals announced that they would keep both rookie quarterbacks, Max Hall and John Skelton, on the roster. And since Derek Anderson had been named the starter, it seemed that this was the next move.

Everybody thought that Leinart would be the starter when Kurt Warner retired, even when Anderson was signed. Leinart has not played very well in training camp and in the preseason.

So what is the next move for Leinart? Will his former coach, Pete Carroll sign him in Seattle? Is he considered a bust now?
