The tunes played at most NHL arenas are getting old and uninspired. The same songs are blasted at every game. These songs tend to annoy the crowd more than inspire them. As a music director of an NHL team, your only focus is to get the crowd involved, not get them to say "oh, here is THAT song again." What follows is a list of ten songs I would play if I ever landed the gig as music director for an NHL team.
Home Team Enters To Slayer: "Raining Blood"
...let the intro build...then when the music starts the team hits the ice...crowd and team will be amped...this song will also increase the chance for an early fight....
Home Team Enters to Mastodon: "Blood And Thunder"
...perfect song to get the blood pumping...good intro lyrics to build a good hate for the opposition...perfect for Flyers...
Home Team Enters (Alternate): High On Fire: "Snakes For The Divine"
...the long intro makes this one perfect...great song to take the ice to...
Get The Crowd Amped: Lil' Scrappy : "Head Bussa"
...if this one doesn't make you want to smack someone in the head...I have no idea what will...
Get Crowd Amped II: Yung Wun "Tear It Up"
...if the game is boring...this one will help get the crowd pumped up...no doubt...
Fight Song: Sick Of It All: "Take The Night Off"
...just a brutal tune...perfect for when a fight breaks out...on or off the ice...
Post Fight: Drowning Pool: "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor"
...yeah I know it's neu metal and cheesy...but you put a good fight montage together with this one and folks will be busting heads in the stands...
Get Crowd Amped III: Trick Daddy: "Let's Go"
...Ozzy has gotten a bit tired...you get some Crazy Train...some ultraviolent lyrics...great combo...
Fight Song: Soulfly: "Bleed"
...please ignore Fred Durst...I have no idea why he is alive let alone allowed to "rap" in this song...good fight song...
Home Team Enters: Melvins: "Honey Bucket"
...the intro is just long enough to get the entire team on the ice and then once they are out there the "fight riff" kicks in...anything could happen...
