MLB, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Game Recap

Even with some lagging injuries to key players, the White Sox continue to find ways to win against their divisional opponents. Tonight, the entire team was clicking as John Danks pitched another spectacular performance and got the run support that he deserved in a victory over the Detroit Tigers.

Danks pitched a fantastic game, giving up just one earned run and striking out six, picking up his ninth victory of the year for the White Sox versus just four losses. He worked the Tigers' lineup all the way until the seventh inning, when he gave up his only run.

He gave way to D.J. Carassco, and shortly after him, Octavio Dotel. Both picked up holds on the evening. Bobby Jenks came on to close out the game in the ninth, but was not credited with a save.

Jim Thome turned out to be all the offense that Danks needed to get through the evening, after he blasted a three-run home run into left center field, giving the White Sox a lead they wouldn't give up.

The divisional race is far from over, however, as the Twins also picked up a victory on the night. The Tigers have lost six in a row and are now eight and a half games back from the AL Central leading Sox, who look to complete the sweep tomorrow at U.S. Cellular field.

  1. even more impressive was the way Danks ripped through that tough right handed lineup...

  2. I've always loved to watch Danks pitch, actually, and it's great to see him perform so well against a tough lineup. Just as impressive was how he did it all without throwing a single curveball.
