I, and many others have been waiting for a long time for news to come that Carey Price has signed a contract. That time has finally come. Thursday, Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced the signing of goaltender Carey Price to a two-year contract. This is Montreal's hottest deal of the summer, by far.

Sources say that he has been signed for $5.5 million for two years, meaning he will receive $2.5 million in the 2010-2011 season and then $3 million in the 2011-2012 season.

The Montreal Canadiens website reports the GM Pierre Gauthier said, “We are extremely happy that Carey has agreed to pursue his career with the Canadiens. Carey is a key member of our Club. He has proved that he has what it takes to be a good goaltender in the league, and we are confident he will perform to the best of his abilities for years to come in a Canadiens uniform.”

With a tough season behind him, he knows that he is in for the hot seat. He said, “For me personally, I know I have to play better. I’m not putting the onus on anybody else,” confirmed Price. “It’s something I’m going to have to do and we’re going to have to do it as a team. We’re all going to have to play well in order to win and I personally want to play better."

With a fresh attitude and a willing spirit, the season is only a few weeks away and Carey is ready.
