Sacramento Kings' Top Scorer Goes Down with Injury

IconYou can add another name to the Sacramento Kings injury report: their leading scorer Kevin Martin went down with a injury Tuesday night.

Martin pulled a groin muscle against the Utah Jazz, and didn't return to the game.

Sacramento, who was already missing their starting point guard Mike Bibby and forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim, will have to proceed without Martin for four-to-six weeks.

Currently sitting at 7-10, the Kings will definitely struggle without their main guy, and Ron Artest will have to pick up the scoring load.

Martin was seventh in the league in scoring, averaging 24.5 ppg.

John Salmons will now get the start for Sacramento. Salmons picked up the load for the Kings Tuesday night by scoring thirteen consecutive points after Martin left the game.

Salmons averaged about 20 ppg when Artest was suspended for the first seven games of the season.

Both Salmons and Francisco Garcia will now see more minutes, and their numbers will look better during the 4-6 week span.

Brad Miller and Mikki Moore will also need to produce more on offense if Kings can fill Martin's scoring load.
