Why the Trojans Will Fall in 2008.

The Southern California Trojans have maintained their seat upon the top of the Pac-10 for the past six seasons. Will this be the year that another team is able to take that throne away from the powerhouse that is Trojan football?

The team that is most capable in my mind of taking down USC, is Arizona State with second year head coach Dennis Erickson.

Dennis Erickson took over a struggling Oregon State team in 1999 and was able to turn them into a one loss team in his second year in charge. They then went to the Fiesta Bowl and pulled off an upset over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

His style of bringing in Junior College transfers shows his "win now" mentality. He brought this ideology to Oregon State and is now repeating history with Arizona State.

Arizona State returns quarterback Rudy Carpenter, a leader who could arguably be one of the premier passers in the conference.

The Sun Devils will play games that will test their ability early, including games vs. Georgia and traveling to Southern Cal.

Will Dennis Erickson's second season will be able to be the magical number once again and bring Arizona State their first all out conference championship since 1996?
