There really wasn't any reason to wait until Saturday, was there?

That yellow Lamborghini you might see heading north on I-75 is probably Derrick Ward.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't even wait until Thursday night's game against the Texans, they released Ward on Tuesday. Ward's departure virtually assures Kareem Huggins that he has won a spot on the 53-man roster.

Coach Raheem Morris made the announcement after Tuesday's practice at One Buc Place. Ward was released after a lousy showing in 2009 and an equally rotten preseason this year. He was acquired as an unrestricted free agent from the New York Giants.

The Bucs also released wide receiver Terrance Nunn and placed linebacker Jon Alston on injured reserve.
