Jeff Gordon is one of the best NASCAR drivers around. He's won at almost every race track he has run on and has four championships. So what's it going to take to get to Number 5 in the standings?
Gordon's team this year just hasn't had the right stuff. Why? Maybe it's because Hendrick gave all his good stuff to Earnhardt this year, but what a minute Earnhardt isn't doing to well either. This time last year Hendrick had seven wins and four of them were from Gordon. Has Hendrick has dropped the ball this year? Hendrick Motorsports itself has not lived up to expectations this year. They have only won three races so far (Johnson 2 and Earnhardt Jr. 1).
As a matter of fact, all the Chevy drivers are not doing as well as they usually do. Dodge and Toyota are running away with it this year. Don't get me wrong, Jeff's not going to finish in last place. Lately he has been in the top 15 or so. Maybe he can pull a Tony Stewart and pick up the pieces in the second half of the year. There are still three months left and every thing resets in the Chase so maybe he can still win a championship this year, but I would settle for just a win.
