Top 10 Rookies In The NFL and NBA: Matthews and Wall Lead The Bunch
Rookies. Some people love them and some hate them. However, it is hard to deny that everyone isn't at least intrigued to watch them grow in their professional leagues. Here are the top ten rookies to watch this fall in the NFL and the NBA:
NFL
- Ryan Matthews: With LaDanian Tomlinson gone, expect Matthews to carry the load.
- C.J Spiller: Marshawn Lynch has a tough time staying on the field, which will help Spiller get many carries. We all know what he is capable of when he gets one in the open field too.
- Ndamukong Suh: There has not been a dominant defensive tackle like Suh to takeover the college game in a while. Hopefully his contract issues will not prevent him from continuing this type of play.
- Eric Berry: Many compare him to Ed Reed and if that is true, watch out.
- Gerald McCoy: Tampa Bay knows how to use good athletes and McCoy has elite-level athleticism.
- Dez Bryant: Despite issues with carrying Roy Williams' pads, Bryant shouldn't have any issues taking his spotlight.
- Sam Bradford: The Rams don't have the best receiving corp, but Bradford will not have to worry about anyone taking his spot anytime soon.
- Jahvid Best: It will be up to the Lions' offensive line to get this guy some open field. When they do, he will capitalize every time.
- Jimmy Clausen: While he has the tools to become a good NFL quarterback, Matt Moore is standing in his way for now. Don't be surprised if Clausen takes over at the mid-way point in the season.
- Joe Haden: After watching him in college, it's safe to say this guy was born to play in the NFL. Unfortunately, the Browns have a long way to go with repairing their pass defense.
NBA
- John Wall: Wall will have the reigns of this team for the entire season and could surprise people with his ability to carry them.
- Blake Griffin: Now that Vinny Del Negro is the coach, Griffin will put up big numbers if he remains healthy.
- DeMarcus Cousins: He is the most talented player on this list. Hopefully Tyreke Evans learned how to pass because Cousins will be one of the most efficient big men in the league next year.
- Paul George: Surprise! Lance Stephenson could be in trouble, which means George will get even more attention. His summer league performances proved he is capable of being a star in this league.
- Wesley Johnson: Johnson will have to battle with Martell Webster and Corey Brewer, but he may fit in to the triangle offense better than either of them.
- Greg Monroe: Detroit desperately needs help since Ben Wallace can no longer hold it down.
- Evan Turner: The reason Turner is low on this list is not because of his bad summer league. Between Andre Iguodala, Thaddeus Young, Jrue Holiday, and Louis Williams, Turner just won't have the same opportunity to shine like the guys higher than him on this list.
- Ed Davis: Unlike Turner, Davis has an incredible opportunity in Toronto. If he comes into the season healthy and mentally ready, he could make this his team in no time.
- Derrick Favors: Troy Murphy coming to New Jersey had to hurt for Favors, but don't be surprised if he sneaks in a good game every once in a while.
- Cole Aldrich: Aldrich ended up on the perfect team. He can do what he does best (rebounding) without needing to put up big numbers.
