Josh Smith and Al Horford to Pistons?

I know what you are thinking: What is this idiot talking about? Well, apparently that was what was offered to the Pistons and they turned it down. Now, as a long time fan of the Pistons I simply wonder what they wanted in return that made them turn the deal down. According to local Detroit papers, the trade would have went down like this:

Detroit Gets:

Al Horford (F)

Josh Smith (F)

Atlanta Gets:

Rip Hamilton (G)

Tayshaun Prince(F)

Amir Johnson(F)

and

1 Rd Pick in 2009 Draft

When I saw the King's Ransom that the Hawks wanted i was no longer surprised that the Pistons did not go for the trade. I stopped asking what Joe Dumars was thinking and started to ask what Atlanta was thinking. Rip Hamilton and Joe Johnson are both instant offense but they play the same position. They would not have enough opportunities to shoot. It would also make Atlanta guard-heavy and light at forward and center. This trade does not make sense for either side.

It is my opinion that Josh Smith will be wearing Piston blue and red by the beginning of the season, but there is going to have to be a great trade option for that to happen. Look for the Pistons to make a strong push in the next two weeks. Dumars is not an idiot; he knows what his team needs and he goes outs and gets it.
