Nigeria's Call-Up Blunder

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has strangely called up an two ineligible players to their national squad for their forthcoming matches against South Africa and Sierra Leone.

The players in question are West Ham; United's, Carlton Cole; and AC Cesena's, Daniel Ola.

Cole is ineligible to play for the Nigerian National Team, as he has already appeared at U21 level for England.

FIFA regulations state that a player is eligible to switch from a country they represented at junior level, but not at the U21 level.

Daniel Ola currently holds a Ghanaian passport ,so he is not eligible to play for Nigeria.

It is an extremely bizarre scenario, that the NFF, have showed no apparent willingness to correct this error.
