Clinton Portis Could Pound His Way to 10,000 Yards

Clinton Portis is certainly a character. His dress up days may be over, but he still dresses up in the burgundy and gold every Sunday. Skins fans either love him or hate him but nobody can deny that he puts yards behind him.
Since joining the Redskins in 2004 from the Mike Shanahan run Denver Broncos, Clinton Portis has rushed for over 1,250 yards every season he has been healthy enough to play the entire year.
His total rushed yards at the time of this article sit at 9,696. Interesting number no doubt, but the fact that Redskins fans could see a 10,000 yard rusher has fans abuzz.
The fine folks of Washington have not seen the feat happen since John Riggins did it over 20 years ago.
The 10,000 Yard Club was almost reached when the Redskins signed former Madden 2007 cover model Shaun Alexander to aid their running game in 2008. However, his stay with the team was short lived, barely staying on the roster a month.
Portis is only 304 yards away from a very exclusive club that includes many of the best running backs in history. Portis could be projected to reach the Club between Weeks Three through Five, depending on usage.
One thing is certain, many fans in the DMV are going to be watching for that.
