The Minnesota Golden Gopher football team will have its offensive backfield mostly intact.

That is the good news, the bad news is that those returning players recorded 16 interceptions, 2,644 passing yards, 932 rushing yards and was sacked 22 times.

Even though the Gophers offense, especially the running game and quarterback play, was very disappointing, it looks to be very deep at these two positions.

The starting quarterback, Adam Weber, returns, but he will have plenty of competition from last season's backup, MarQueis Gray.

Duane Bennett and DeLeon Eskridge have been the starter in the past, but departed running back Kevin Whaley started most of the games down the stretch last season. Bennett appears to be the early favorite to start, but Eskridge and three incoming freshmen will challenge for carries.

Jon Hoese is one of just fullbacks listed on the roster. He will probably be the only guy to see the field in this role.
