Just yesterday I wrote a piece on Andy Murray and how I felt he'd taken a step forward in his career since the turn of the year.

I wasn't sure if he'd overcome world No. 3 Novak Djokovic for the second week in a row.

Djokovic had beaten Rafael Nadal in the semifinal and went into the final as favourite. Murray though, fought hard to a 7-6, 7-6 victory and basically answered all his critics.

The Cincinnati Masters is Murray's sixth career title and his best victory yet.

The 21-year-old Scot has now risen to a career high of sixth in the ATP world rankings and appears to be in the form of his career.

His improved ranking will make his path to the latter stages of the US Open a little easier, but with Andy I'd rather he was playing the toughest ties possible just to make sure he keeps his concentration!

The US Open semifinal is more than possible for Murray, and on any day, anything can happen.
