Should the Nets give up they future in Brook Lopez for Melo? If the Nets make this trade right now, they will be really weak at the center position. The Nets have at back-up center is Johan Petro, Brian Zoubek and just acquire Troy Murphy. Petro and Zoubek are not starting centers in the NBA. Zoubek is a nondrafted Duke player added to the 2010-11 Nets roster. Petro is a former back-up center with the Denver Nuggets. Murphy play both positions, but his natural position is power foward. This is why the Nets acquire him to play the five spot. Murphy, Lopez and Devin Harris look good on paper right now. Melo and Murphy and no center means no championship. Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, and a ton draft picks enter the conversation about Anthony. K-Mart and Birdman will miss significant time during the season. The Nuggets need a big man desperately now! The Nets need to wait this matter out. Play poker with the Denver Nuggets and keep Lopez.
