Thinking Ahead: Why I Believe an Orton Vs Cena WM Match Needs To Happen
Hey Everyone! I just want to take a moment and all the attention away from the current happenings in the professional wrestling world to talk about something that's been on my mind for quite sometime.
Let's rewind back twenty years ago at Wrestlemania 6 when two of the biggest, popular, and top moneymakers in the WWE, The Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan went face to face in the main event. It was a match that needed to happen because it was to determine who was the best period. Since both individuals had a massive fan following, it was impossible for fans to determine who was going to come out as the winner. It added excitement and unpredictability as every single fan were on the edge of their seat in the Skydome. In the end, the torch was passed to The Ultimate Warrior, but sadly it didn't last long due to Warrior's unprofessionalism.
Now let's fast forward to the Attitude-Era. Two of the most popular superstars in the history of the WWE, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin were set to go one on one at Wrestlemania X-Seven to determine who's the best. This match had that same feel as the Warrior/Hogan match in terms of the excitement and unpredictability. Now, I'm sure a lot of people knew Austin would win because he returned from an injury after missing Wrestlemania 2000 the year before, however, how many people actually fathomed the idea of him joining forces with Vince Mcmahon? Anyways, Austin won back the title and once again secured his spot as the top dog in the WWE.
Now, Here we are in the current era, where clearly two of the most popular superstars are John Cena and Randy Orton. Orton is finally reaching (if he hasn't already) that level of popularity and celebrity status as Cena has. Orton has started to generate louder pops than Cena and is also starting to appear in late night talk shows (Youtube his interview on Lopez Tonight and see how loud of a pop he got.) This can culminate into a great match between these two faces at Wrestlemania 27 to determine who's the best as they blow the roof off the Georgia Dome. The fans will be on the edge of their seats chanting "CENA CENA CENA CENA/ RKO RKO RKO RKO!!!"
Tell me what you guys think.
