The second major running back commitment of the 2011 class just dropped as 5-star Cibolo, TX running back Malcolm Brown verbally committed to the Texas Longhorns over Alabama and Florida State earlier tonight.
Alabama was reportedly vying to be a co-leader for Brown, but I suspect James Wilder's commitment to Florida State had something to do with Brown's decision as well.
The Seminoles were on the periphery of Brown's recruitment since July, when he named them as a darkhorse candidate. Did he have more interest in FSU than he was letting on? Or was he just inspired to finalize his decision by Wilder?
Either way, Brown's commitment effectively ends Texas' major recruiting for 2010. He became the must-get recruit of the class once the Longhorns proclaimed a desire to return to a power-running ground game.
Brown's decision could trigger a commitment from running back Isaiah Crowell, who is currently down to Bama and Georgia and is the Tide's second choice after Brown.
