The Edmonton Oilers Just Keep Getting Better

It has been one busy offseason for the Edmonton Oilers.

It all started with the Oilers dealing Matt Greene and Jarret Stoll to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Lubomir Visnovsky, followed by the trades of Raffi Torres to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Gilbert Brule, and Joni Pitkanen to the Carolina Hurricanes for Erik Cole.

While the Oilers haven't really indulged themselves in to the free agent market, they did ink a couple of minor signings in Jason Strudwick and Carl Corazzini.

But the biggest move for the Oilers came a couple days ago, when it was announced that Kevin Lowe would take up a new position as the team's President of Hockey Operations, leaving the general manager spot open.

At the same press conference, it was announced that Steve Tambellini will now be the team's GM, after being with the Vancouver Canucks organization for 17 years and being passed over twice for the their GM spot.

This is a great move for the Oilers organization, and it's about time someone was able to step up and lure Tambellini out of Vancouver.
