UFC 118: My Predictions (Spike TV Card)
With the next UFC PPV (118) being almost a week away, I thought I would give my prediction on the Spike TV card. (the main UFC card will be next)
Spike TV Card:
Fight #1: Andre Winner vs Nik Lentz:
In the Lightweight Division we have TUF 9 Finalist vs a carnival freak (kidding).
Andre Winner is 2-1 in his UFC career (11-3-1 in his pro career, 5-2-1 in his last 8 fights) (I'm counting the TUF loss) the two fights he's won have been a KO and a decision (respectively), most of his pro wins have gone to the judge's cards, so my guess is that he might endure this to the judges cards for this fight.
Nik Lentz, on the other hand, is 2-0-1 in the UFC (18-3-2 in his pro career, 7-0-1 his his last 8 fights) both of Lentz's win's in the UFC have gone to the jugde's card's (with one draw), 14 of Lentz 18 pro wins have come by KO and submission (both being 7 each), so I expect Lentz to be throwing haymakers through most of this fight.
So my prediction is that Andre Winner will win this by split decision.
Fight #2: Joe Lauzon vs Gabe Ruediger:
Another Lightweight division fight on the Spike TV card features a purple belt in BJJ (Joe Lauzon) vs former TUF 5 castmate who holds a black belt in BJJ and a yellow belt in judo (Gabe Ruediger).
Everyone in the MMA community should at least know who Joe Lauzon is, after his 48 KO over former UFC LW Champion Jens Pulver, Fight of the Night losess over Kenny Florian and Sam Stout, and a victory of Mike Brown of WEC fame. Joe is a submission specialist with 14 of his 18 career victories coming by submission, with 4 stunning KO wins, I see Joe as a shoe-in for this win.
Gabe Ruediger like Joe Lauzon, has fought in the UFC before he joined TUF, but he lost to Melvin Guillard, but something we (may) not have know about Gabe is that he is 5-2 in the WEC, a former WEC LW Champion, but since his lost to Hermes Franca at WEC 19, he was on the losing side with a 2-3 post-WEC record, but has since won his last 6 fight by submission and TKO. And after watching some of Gabe's past six fight, it looks like he could give Joe some trouble.
so, my prediction for this fight, I'll be giving it to Joe Lauzon via submission.
Thank you for reading my article, please give feedback, thoughts, rate, etc. on what you think might happen.
My UFC 118 main card prediction article will be up on B/R later this week (hopefully)
