Butler Vs Purdue and Indiana Vs Notre Dame in 2011 Crossroads Classic

Collin O'ConnorCorrespondent IDecember 18, 2016

The 2011 Crossroads Classic will be played in Conseco Fieldhouse, and for the first time in a while, there will be some pretty good defense played in that arena.

Kicking it off will be a great matchup between the Butler Bulldogs, last year's Cinderella story, and the Purdue Boilermakers, a team which has a chance to reach the Final Four this season.

That game is sure to be a competitive one with the styles of play both teams bring to the table. Purdue and Butler are similar in that they play superb team defense that leads to easy open opportunities. There's no doubt both teams have talent on the offensive end of the floor, but if you're a fan of great team defense, this is the perfect game for you.

This will also be a great opportunity for both of the programs to show off some of their talent pretty early in the season.

In the second game, Notre Dame and Indiana will renew their rivalry by going head to head. This game will have its headlines as well, as Indiana continues to recover from the Kelvin Sampson period. As for Notre Dame, they continue to be a consistent mid-level Big East team that is trying to get over the hump and into the later stages of the NCAA tournament.

This event will be great for all basketball fans in the state of Indiana and for basketball fans everywhere. I'm looking forward to seeing the top teams in the Hoosier State face off.
