Hello one and all! I am very pleased to present 2010's Decade-End playlist! Now I know many of you are wondering what that means exactly, so let me break it down for ya'. It's been ten years, eleven actually, but that's besides the point. It's been ten years of crazy, out-of-control, non-stop women's wrestling action! Through thick and thin women's wrestling has grown a whole heck of a lot of fans. Those fans are, of course, us! So let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we? I'm going to list the best matches of each year in the decade, all the way from 2000 to 2009, 2010 being a bonus. In the end I want to hear your voice! What were some of your favorite matches of this decade? What were your favorite moments? I want to know directly from you! So without further ado', the best women's wrestling matches, beginning with 2000:
The best I could muster up for this year was Molly vs Ivory vs Trish. I know, I know, not the most technical match, but it was still pretty damn enjoyable. Watch below:
This year was the beginning of the 'Golden Era' in women's wrestling. And one of the first matches of the Golden Era was quite risqué. I am, of course, talking about Trish Stratus vs Stephanie McMahon at No Way Out. And there certainly was no way out for either lady, as they beat the living crap out of each other! Watch the fun carnage for yourself:
Another great match in the beginning of the era we so loved was Chyna vs Lita. Both women were extremely over at the time, and it might as well have been The Rock vs Stone Cold with the amount of fan reaction they got. The feud was short-lived due to Chyna's release, but this match will forever remain etched in our memories:
The last 'big' match that year took place at one of the big four, Survivor Series! I think everyone remembers this match, if just for Jazz's debut. You guessed it, this match is the Six Pack Challenge for the WWE Women's Championship! Aside from Jazz's debut, this also happened to be the match where Trish won her first Women's Title! And we all know how that played out....:
It would be silly to think that 2002 wasn't the year of the Stratus. Trish contested in all the main women's wrestling feuds that year, facing off against the likes of Jazz, Molly Holly, Victoria, and even Jacqueline. Let me bring you an abundance of matches, the best of that year to be precise, and take notice of one main recurring theme....
First off, Trish vs Molly at Unforgiven:
Miss Stratus wins her third Women's Title.
Numero dos is Trish vs Jazz at the Royal Rumble:
Stratus retains her title in a nice bout.
Trish vs Jazz at Backlash:
Jazz makes Trish tap.
Trish vs Jazz vs Lita at Wrestlemania:
The hometown girl comes up short, and the redhead is gets crushed.
Trish vs Victoria at Survivor Series:
Hardcore never looked so good.
Trish vs Jacqueline vs Victoria:
You get the drift yet?
This year holds the most amount of top women's wrestling matches on the list. Some were packing a lot of substance heading into the match itself, while others weren't expected to shine as much.
Trish vs Jazz vs Victoria:
The Canadian beauty picks up her fourth title in the match that I think is the best women's Wrestlemania match up.
Trish vs Jazz vs Jacqueline vs Victoria at Judgment Day:
Four women playing to each others strengths means one hell of a good match.
2003 also happened to be a year of firsts. It's funny that the firsts corresponded with the best matches.
Trish vs Jazz at Backlash:
The same two women contesting at the same consecutive ppv? I think that was a first.
Trish vs Victoria in a Chicago Street Fight:
The first Diva Chicago Street Fight.
Trish & Lita vs Molly & Gail at Unforgiven
Lita's first match back from injury.
Lita vs Victoria in a steel cage:
The first Diva steel cage match.
WWE Diva Battle Royal:
Arguably the most popular WWE Diva battle royal in history, this also happened to be Gail's first appearance in WWE, as well as her first title win.
This was pretty much the beginning of the end for multiple women's wrestling matches. Many people also mark 2004 as the end of the Golden Era. I, for one, don't believe so. But, it can definitely be argued.
Victoria vs Lita vs Trish vs Gail at Bad Blood:
Trish wins her fifth belt.
Trish vs Lita as the Raw main event:
Lita comes out on top in arguably the most popular match of this past decade.
This year brought the rise of Melina. Everyone saw her as nothing but eye candy, but she proved the critics wrong in the best match of 05':
Trish vs Melina at Survivor Series:
This year was surprising in that it brought out a large amount of top-notch matches from a wide array of women. From Mickie, to Trish, to Lita, to Melina, to even Jillian, it was a good year.
Trish vs Mickie at New Years Revolution:
Trish pulls out all the stops to beat Mickie James.
Trish vs Mickie at Wrestlemania:
Part 2- Mickie wins what is considered the greatest women's wrestling match in Wrestlemania history.
Melina vs Jillian at Judgement Day:
Jillian contributes to Melina's later meltdown.
Trish vs Lita at Unforgiven:
Part 2- Trish gets her storybook ending.
Lita vs Mickie at Survivor Series:
Mickie beats Lita in her momentous last match.
07' had to be the year of Candice Michelle. She became the breakout star of the WWE, improving in the ring, connecting with the fans, and even earning a Women's Championship reign. It wasn't just her year in terms of success, but it was also her year inside the ring, aside from one match:
Candice vs Beth at Unforgiven:
Candice barely walks out champion after facing The Glamazon.
Candice vs Beth-Two out of three falls:
Infamous for the ending, Beth walks away champion this time.
Melina vs Mickie at Backlash:
Melina walks away champion in what I believe is the best women's wrestling match of this era.
I guess you can think of 2008 as Beth's year, because she pulled out the top matches for this year. The Glamazon definitely rose to prominence in 08', and here's why:
Beth vs Mickie:
Mickie wins her fourth Women's Title in an upset.
Beth vs Melina at One Night Stand:
Beth almost breaks Melina in half to make her say "I quit!"
Beth vs Mickie vs Melina at Judgement Day:
Mickie finds a way to beat her fierce competition.
Survivor Series Elimination Match:
Beth becomes the first Divas sole survivor.
This was definitely the year of Melina and Michelle McCool. Both stepped up their game in all aspects, and after being drafted to Smackdown Melina's feud with Michelle McCool led to some amazing matches, with one extra match not including Melina.
Melina vs Michelle at The Bash
Michelle wins her first Women's Championship.
Melina vs Michelle at Night of Champions:
Michelle barely walks out with her title after a brutal match with Melina.
Survivor Series Elimination Match:
Melina and Mickie James end up sharing the 'Sole Survivor' spot.
Michelle vs Mickie at TLC:
Michelle finds a way to beat a fired up Mickie James.
And just for fun, here's, what I think, is the best match of the year so far:
