Yesterday a good part of the hockey world were sitting on their computers waiting to hear that Tomas Kaberle had been traded. Well that news never hit, Tomas Kaberle is still a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Curious as to what Leafs nation thought of this I went on the web to hear some of the thoughts of other Maple Leafs hockey fans. To my surprise most of what I heard were complaints about Tomas Kaberle staying a Maple Leaf. What I’d like to know is what exactly are you complaining about?

I’m glad Brian Burke didn’t choke under the pressure and didn’t move Kaberle out of Toronto without getting the a trade that he knew would benefit the Leafs. Burke did what was best for the team and kept Tomas Kaberle in Toronto.

Burke knows just how much he wants for Tomas Kaberle and he won’t settle for anything less.

Kaberle is one of the best offensive-minded defenseman in the league. To give up someone like that you need to know that what you’re getting in return is a sure thing. I guess it wasn’t so Tomas wasn’t sent packing just yet.

Tomas Kaberle is going to rejoin one of the best defensive groups in the NHL. I don’t get how Leafs fans can complain about Kaberle staying when you think about how good of a player he is and how much better he makes our defense.

With Kaberle staying the Top 6 defenseman on the team are Dion Phaneuf, Tomas Kaberle, Francois Beauchemin, Mike Komisarek, Luke Schenn and Carl Gunnarsson. Plus throw in Brett Lebda as the 7th defenseman on the team and that makes one solid group of defenseman on the team. Is that something Leafs fans should really be complaining about?

You’ve got some big depth on your team from the first line through the third. For those of you that do not realize what this means, it means that the two Leafs defenseman on the ice will be great ones regardless of which line is on.

I can understand that Leafs fans wanted a Top 6 forward to join the team to make the offense stronger, but there is still time for that. Plus you must have faith in Burke and what he is doing. As I mentioned before, he won’t move Kaberle unless he knows what he’s getting in return is a sure thing that will help the Leafs moving forward.

Toronto is coming along great under Brian Burke. We’ve got two great goaltenders between the pipes in Giggy and Gustavsson. Giggy is mentoring the kid well and is turning him into a great goaltender for the Leafs in the future. You’ve got one of the most solid defenses in the entire NHL and even the offense isn’t looking all too terrible anymore with players like Phil Kessel, Tyler Bozak, Nikolai Kulemin, Kris Versteeg, Mikhail Grabovski, Colby Armstrong and others.

You’ve got a great, young captain in Phaneuf and a great head coach in Ron Wilson.

So please stop with all the complaining because you have a great team coming together and whether it’s with Tomas Kaberle or without him, we’ll make our charge up the Eastern Conference and into the playoffs sooner than later.
