PHILADELPHIA--The Flyers are taking a bit of a break in the middle of August, as the team has expressed some level of interests in free agent goalie Antti Niemi who has a Stanley Cup ring on his finger.

Paul Holmgren is asking for the fans to be patient as the summer rolls on and Niemi needs to find a place to play hockey where he found splendid success as an NHL rookie. I'm sure, if the NHL Awards counted playoff success, Niemi would be a Calder finalist if not the winner.

So, who is in competition with the Flyers for Antti? Rivals Capitals, Sharks out West, Edmonton possibly and New York Islanders are a few of the places that either need a better starter, or need an insurance policy in goal.

Let's see what Niemi decides to do with his NHL career.

Thank you for your participation.
