Josh Howard of the Dallas Mavericks was arrested for allegedly going 95 in a 55 zone and for drag racing his Lexus against a Volkswagen.
So, if the findings are true and he was really racing, he deserves to be suspended. So, Mark Cuban really needs to be monitoring the situation. If Howard was racing, it should be a stiff punishment, not a slap on the wrist.
This is a circumstance for NBA players, not just Mavs players, to know that doing something as stupid as street racing isn't going to be tolerated. I think the Mavs organization needs to suspend him for the first 20 games of the season.
Anything less then that is a slap on the wrist. Okay, maybe 20 is a little steep but it should be anywhere from 10 to 20 games.
There's absolutely no reason for a player to be racing, especially after what happened to Bobby Phills, who died when he was supposedly racing David Wesley.
That picture is the result of what happened when Bobby Phills lost control of his car. The result left a woman without her husband, and she must take care of their kids by herself.
With Howard's huge mistake, he can make it into something positive though. Howard will definitely be suspended, if not by the Mavs organization then by the NBA.
Also, he will be punished by the law for what he did. More than likely he'll have some sort of community service.
I think that this will definitely be a good thing for Howard because he should be sent to high schools all over Texas and North Carolina (where he's from) and he can talk about the dangers of doing something stupid, like racing.
