The Stanley Cup is the most treasured trophy in the sports world.  Many players can play their entire career without raising the Cup.

This is a list of active NHL players with at least 1,000 games played who have never hoisted the Cup.  Time may be running out for these players.

No active player is a real threat to break Phil Housley's record of 1,495 games played without a Cup.

However, there is a chance that all mentioned could gain ground on him this year as they search for the elusive prize.

Daniel Alfredsson

The Ottawa Senators captain has played for that franchise since he broke into the NHL in 1995-1996.

The Sens saw something that most teams did not in Alfredsson as he was available to them with the 133rd pick in the sixth round of the 1994 draft.

Alfredsson is the all-time leader for the Senators in games played, goals, assists and points.

Alfreddson is under contract with the Sens and should retire with the same team that drafted him.

Games played with the Sens without winning a Cup: 1002

Daymond Langkow

Langkow was selected with the fifth pick in the 1995 NHL draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Since making his debut with the Lightning he has played for the Flyers, the Coyotes and currently wears the "A" on his Flames sweater.

A grinding center, Langkow has accumulated 641 points in his NHL career.

He is signed with the Flames through the 2012 season.

Jarome Iginla

Iginla was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the first round of the 1995 entry draft.

He never played a game for the Stars as he was traded to Calgary for the rights to Joe Nieuwendyk.

Iginla's first NHL game was in the 1996 Stanley Cup Playoffs. He scored an assist in that game and followed that up with a goal in his second game.

Iginla is currently the Flames all-time leader in points, goals, and games played.  He has captained the team since the 2003-2004 season.

Iginla has had a very productive career; however he is missing the piece of hardware that makes an NHL player feel complete.

The Phoenix Coyotes captain has played his entire career with the same franchise.

Winnipeg took Doan in the first round of the 1995 draft.

In addition to wearing the "C" for Phoenix, Doan has served as captain of the Canadian national team.

Doan is under contract through the 2012 season and will most likely retire as a Coyote.

In his NHL career he has scored 678 points.

In youth hockey the twisted nose and scarred face of Laperriere serve as a warning as to what happens when you go without a visor.

The long time NHL warrior was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 1992.  "Lappy" was taken in the 7th round with the 158th pick.

Since that time, this fan favorite has played for the Blues, NY Rangers, LA Kings, Colorado Avalanche and the Philadelphia Flyers.

In 2010 he made it to game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final with the Flyers whose Cup hopes were dashed by the Chicago Blackhawks.

He is signed with the Flyers for two more seasons.
