Happy Valley Stoked for the Return of Nittany Lions Football

Scott FittsCorrespondent IAugust 2, 2008

Despite recent off-field problems that have come to light for two Defensive Tackles Chis Baker and Phil Taylor, Happy Valley is posed for the start of the 2008-09 Big Ten Football! Joe Paterno, the man that everyone has called for his retirement year after year, is leading yet another talented team on the Gridiron. Joe Pa is returning for his 59th season as Coach of the Blue and White, and at 81 is still running on the the field with the team and proving to unbelievers that he still has what it takes to elevate his team one of the best in the country. The Offensive Line is anchored by  Senior Captain Center A.Q. Shipley and almost all are returning from last year. The lions QB position is up for grabs, but fortunately the back field for Penn State is strong with Evan Royster and Kin getting plenty of snaps last year and looking to improve. Which QB earns the starting position will have a wide range of weapons to pick apart defenses, including senoir receivers Deon Butler, Derrick Williams, and Jordan Norwood and two  bruising Tight-ends over the middle. But as most fans know Penn State is known across the country not for a high powered offense but for suffocating and punishing defense. Fortunately the heart of the defense the line backers which penn state has produced some of the greatest are returning yet another outstanding class led by big Sean Lee, the LB corps is stacked with new and upcoming talent. The defensive backs are another story of huge depth three Senior safeties Anthony Scirrotto, Tony Davis,, flanked by multiple Lock-Down corners such as Lydell Sargeant and Willie Harriott. The D-Line has great depth which the Nittany Lions use to their advantage to wear down offense and also create havoc in the back field with bone crushing sacks and tackles. Penn States Defense will again this year cause huge problems for other Big Ten and NCCA foes. Just this week Penn State was ranked 22nd in the NCCA Coaches Poll and with Coastal Coastal Carolina, Oregon State, Syracuse, and Temple Penn State is Looking to go 4 - 0 entering Big Ten play. WE ARE PENN STATE!
