Davids Of Bellator's Heavyweight Tourney, Beware: Goliath Has Arrived
Eddie Sanchez barely got anything off on Neil Grove.
That's what tends to happen in Bellator, though, and especially tonight at Bellator 24's opener to the promotion's inaugural heavyweight tournament.
The fight was almost over before it even began, as Grove stormed Sanchez with a quick right that more than rocked Sanchez. Grove wasted no time trying to finish "The Manic Hispanic", though the former UFC heavyweight star trapped Grove briefly in a guard and kept him from doing any severe damage.
Grove would keep it coming for the rest of the first round, even knocking down Sanchez again, but the second knockdown of Sanchez is when the fight would end.
Sanchez seemed to have trouble getting back up, even touching his head as he was getting back up, prompting what some might have considered to be a premature stoppage by the ref.
Nonetheless, Grove didn't get lucky. He earned a win in a fantastic display, and Eddie Sanchez's left eye would agree.
Now Grove is one step closer to becoming the first Bellator Heavyweight Champion, and he did it in dominating fashion.
To the other heavyweights in the tournament — including Mike "300" Hayes, Damion Grabowski, and Cole Konrad, it'd be wise to watch out for this guy in the tournament.
Goliath ma be a big boy, but he's pretty quick.
If you don't believe me, try meeting his right hand... or ask Eddie Sanchez.
