The Knicks have announced two signings this week. New York signed two 6'5 shooting guards. Roger Mason Jr. and second-round draft pick Andy Rautins from Syracuse.
These signing have closed the holes at the depth of pure shooting guards. Neither Roger Mason nor Andy Rautins is expected to start for the Knicks at the 2. They will provide shooting off the Mike D'Antoni's bench.
Mason averaged 6.3 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.7 apg with the Spurs. His career averages are 7.2 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.5 apg and is 39% 3 point shooter. He shot treys two seasons ago at an excellent 43%.
Rautins averaged 12.1 ppg, 3.4 rpg, and 4.9 apg in 35 games for the Syracuse Orange last season. He was selected 38th overall this summer in the draft.
Roger Mason Jr. has stated that he is looking forward to play for Coach Mike D'Antoni. D'Antoni has praised the Virginia graduate's shooting and ability to run the point. They are both mutually excited.
It will be exciting to watch how Mason and Rautins mesh in with the orange and blue.
