Johnathan Roy Charged with Assault in QMJHL Fight

Johnathan Roy has been charged with assaulting Chicoutimi Sagueneens goaltender Bobby Nadeau in a QMJHL playoff game last March.

Nadeau made no attempt to fight back as Roy pummeled him. After being restrained by an official, Roy ensued in another fight with Chicoutimi defenseman, Sebastien Rioux, who jumped Roy and was escorted off the ice. Roy proceeded to to give the crowd the finger with both hands.

A few days later, Roy apologized at a press confrence.

The QMJHL said that Roy will be able to play next season. If he is found guilty, Roy faces a $2,000 fine for his actions. Patrick Roy has denied that he ever sent his son to fight Nadeau. Nadeau said he was indeffernt about pressing charges but he will testify against Roy.

Tell me what you think. Does the charge fit? Should it be more or less? Should Roy be able play next season?
