Some very interesting rumors going around the NHL, so I'll just get down to it.

Multiple teams, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, were attempting to sign forward John Madden. He has signed with the Minnesota Wild. Interesting signing to say the least, he is old and would be a solid bottom six forward for a competing team. The Wild did not even make the playoffs this year. It works well for the Wild as he is a proven veteran, but Madden could have had a shot with a Stanley Cup contender.

Maxim Afinogenov has signed with SKA of the Kontinental Hockey League. Obviously, he would not get as much money here, but the fact that he went there shows either he is not interested in playing against the best in the world, or the money was out of this world. I hope he comes back to the NHL before his contract expires, just for the heck of it.

Willie Mitchell has lowered the number of teams he would sign with to three: Vancouver, Washington, and San Jose. Vancouver is strapped for cap space, and I think Washington could use his services the most.

The Boston Bruins are trying to shop Michael Ryder. Everyone else must be laughing at that. Seriously, there should be no interest in him. The cap hit is too much unless they entice someone with a draft pick or prospect.

Also, I am counting down the days to August 15. For more than one reason actually, but mostly because of Tomas Kaberle. He is one of the best defensemen in the NHL and as such should be gain a high return for the Maple Leafs.
