Pro Wrestling's Backbone Is Stronger Than Ever!

When you think of the backbone of wrestling you may automatically think the WWE. In many ways I can't blame modern fans for thinking that way. After all we have had the WWE pushed down on us for some time now—mainly because the lack of competition it has had. Hardcore wrestling fans know differently though.

To hardcore wrestling fans it is the Indy scene that keeps pro wrestling strong. Its only on the Indy scene that we get to see great performers like Tyler Black, Davey Richards, Mike Quackenbush, Blue Demon Jr., and others. Watching the Indy scene is much like watching a treasure hunt. You may get a couple matches where the guys in there have no business wrestling. Or you may spot a gem and say to yourself, "why isn't he in the bigs?"

I have been to well over 100 Indy shows in my lifetime. I can honestly say that you really get more bang for your buck at an Indy show. The wrestlers treat their fans great, and you don't have to break the bank to have a good time.

Right now the Indy scene is at a real high point. I hear week in and week out about how tired some of you are of the same two brands of wrestling. Well I'm here to tell you that you do have choices. In fact you have many products to pick from. So I decided I would help some of you lost wrestling fans find your way and share some of the great wrestling action you may be over looking.

EVOLVE

EVOLVE was started in 2009 by former ROH and ECW great Gabe Sapolsky. It all started with a series of viral videos posted over the web. Once the rumors were confirmed about EVOLVE the Indy scene was jumping. He decided he would take a new approach by making wrestling as real as possible. He introduced a ranking system into the mix that really had the fans buzzing.

As of right now EVOLVE has a roster that is just full of talent. You can see great action from guys like Bryan Danielson, Brad Allen, Bobby Fish, Jack Evans, and a whole lot more. This is a promotion that has a lot of potential, and it is worth it for you to check out.

NWA

Years ago NWA was a powerhouse that couldn't be reckoned with. But after the 80's NWA was almost forgotten about completely. While the NWA is no longer a mainstream powerhouse, it is a very strong Indy scene promotion. As it stands now, the NWA has promotions in over 40 states and nine countries.

As with many promotions floating around, there is a ton of talent here. In fact many of the major stars today started in the NWA. Today's NWA offers you great action from many great competitors. Guys like Adam Pearce, Blue Demon Jr., Shane Haste, The SHEIK, and others are laying down good bouts all over the country.

Some lucky people get to see it on TV. Most don't have that opportunity though. I would highly recommend checking out their matches online or in person if it is in town. This a major source for pro wrestling's future.

Shimmer

If you're a fan of woman's wrestling, then this is your source of action. Founded in 2005 and based out of Chicago, Shimmer has been providing TNA, WWE, NWA, and others great female wrestlers for years. Some of their alumni include the likes of Beth Phoenix, Nattie Neidhart, and Awesome Kong.

My personal favorite to come out of Shimmer is Lufisto. She recently lost the title, but she has been the backbone for them for a long time now. She is a classy lady who can throw it down technically and has hardcore style. Also on the current roster are Madison Eagles, Daffney, MsChif, and other lovely ladies who can kick your rear end in.

These are just a few of the choices you have out there. With other great promotions like CHIKARA, Dragon Gate USA, Combat Zone Wrestling, Glory, Maryland Championship Wrestling, and others, you have a lot to choose from. No matter what you pick to watch you can't go wrong. So do yourselves a favor and open your eyes and mind to some of these Indy promotions. You will not only be pleasantly surprised, but you will also be helping out these many wrestlers who could use your support.
