NHL Breeze, Evening edition:

  • The Kovalchuk hearing is underway in Boston, we should hear more from them on Thursday when it concludes or a decision perhaps by Friday.
  • Antti Niemi is in talks with the New York Islanders, Washington Capitals, Philadelphia Flyers, San Jose Sharks, among a group of teams knocking on the door.
  • Kevin Bieksa rumors continue to fly. He is linked to the Anaheim Ducks as the Ducks are still looking to add grit and determination. Bieksa fits the mold.
  • The Chicago Blackhawks are expected to make at least one more move to get under the salary cap. Huet is either loaned to Europe or shelfed in the AHL by October.
  • Tyler Seguin is at the World Juniors player development camp for Team Canada. Taylor Hall declined the invitation.
  • Tomas Kaberle rumors were just that today. Still no sign of moving out of Toronto...yet.
  • Jamal Mayers will try and replace his predecessor Manny Malhotra on the 3rd line.

Stay tuned for NHL Breeze Aug.5, Morning Edition.
