After missing the three previous games in Milwaukee, Jim Edmonds came back with a bang as he contributed a solo homer and a grand slam to the Cubbies' 11-4 win (Leave it to me to have him on my fantasy bench and not know he was playing today). The win gave the South Siders their first sweep in Milwaukee since 2003, and increased their division lead to 5 games over Milwaukee and St. Louis.
Being the ace that he's been since the trade, Rich Harden gave another solid performance and finally picked up his first win as a Cub, allowing only a Prince Fielder solo home run in the 7th and a total of 6 hits while striking out 9.
Alfonso Soriano and Kosuke Fukudome also contributed to the mix, each homering in the 8th to put it out of reach.
There was a little trouble "brewing" in the 9th, when Eric Gagne was ejected after nearly hitting Edmonds on a 3-0 pitch. But the ejections didn't stop there, as Prince Fielder was the next one to go after arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Doug Eddings.
Dave Bush (5-9) took the loss for the day, giving up 7 runs on 5 hits and only striking out 3.
The Cubs (65-44) will host Pittsburgh this weekend, while Milwaukee (60-49) must face the Atlanta Braves.
